The Utah Education Association is implementing a new twist to the former, “Legislative Briefings for Local Leaders,” that were scheduled on Fridays during past legislative sessions. On select days during the 2009 session UEA is inviting educators/UEA members join the UEA Legislative Team on the Hill for a day of lobbying and exposure to the legislative process.

This is an opportunity to expose our lawmakers to some of our excellent teachers and to provide teachers a deeper understanding of the political process. We always hear legislators say, “I know what UEA thinks, but I want to hear from a ‘real’ teacher.”
To participate: If you are interested in participating in the UEA Educator Day on the Hill, please contact your local leader and/or UniServ director. Once we know of your interest and availability, UEA will contact your legislator who, hopefully, will agree to “host” you as his or her guest.
Instructions for those participating: If you are participating in UEA Educator Day on the Hill, the UEA Legislative Team will meet you in the Capitol Building cafeteria (East Building) at 9 a.m. (click here for parking information). An approximate schedule for the day is as follows:
