Steve Seamons: Board member since July 2009

Steve's Thoughts:

What I learned about UEA that surprised me: "I have been surprised at all the time and dedication that a great number of members put in to see that the Association is a valued and creditable organization that furthers the needs of the members."

What I value most about the Association: "The greatest value of the Association that I have is the great people and friends in education that I have on each level. At the local, state, and national levels you gain lasting friendships, that help and encourage me in the classroom. Children are at the forefront of education and the Association works hard to meet the needs of each individual child and educator."

How members might begin to be more active in the Association: "The first thing is the join your professional organization. Next, is to find out how the organization and the people that have been here before you have made teaching better for you. Then see how you can help to make it better for you and others. As you become involved, you will gain a greater appreciation for those who made it better for you and you will want to do the same for those who follow you. There is a big variety of things to do in Association work and you can find something that you are good at and that will help. Everyone is busy and has too much to do. But, if you don't become involved, who will get things done for the students, your colleagues, and yourself?"
