Stuart's Thoughts:
What I learned about UEA that surprised me: "The fact that the vast majority of local leaders of the Association receive little or no pay for the tremendous work they do. The commitment of these leaders truly inspries me every day to make the UEA an even greater organization."
What I value most about the Association: "I value the UEA because of the collective voice the Association gives the teachers in this state. Without the UEA, who would speak for us? The stronger our membership; the stronger our voice for educators and students."
How members might begin to be more active in the Association: "I feel members need to ask questions. I think we as educators are willing to accept the status quo. They need to exercise the right to know the facts and reasons behind decisions made by the UEA and the Legislature. Inquiry is a powerful tool in the learning process that is sadly underused by many in the education profession."
