Kathleen Wagner

Kathleen Wagner : Board member since July 2006

Kathleen's Thoughts:

"What I learned about UEA that surprised me: "I was surprised at how little I understood about the time and dedication that our UEA leaders put into their positions. They live and breathe UEA. The time they spend on our members' behalf isn't understood by most members. After attending the Council of Local Presidents meetings this past year as well as attending the NEA RA three different years, I've been able to witness first hand the dedication of our UEA leaders."

What I value most about the Association: "I value the support system that is in place for all members. Whenever there is a concern or need, there is always someone there for the members. Whether it is the local president, the UniServ Director or even our UEA leaders, someone is ready and willing to assist members. I also value the way UEA keeps us informed on important issues so we as members can take action to support positions important to education."

How members might begin to be more active in the Association: "We need more members to understand they may only be one person, but one person makes a difference. We are like the 'bundle of sticks' in the fable. We can be strong and united as we work towards common goals. Individually, we cannot accomplish the same as we can when we are unified. We don't have room for apathy, thinking someone else will take care of things for the rest of us."
