UEA Utah NAME Scholarship Application
The UEA provides up to ten scholarships for members to attend the NAME Conference and will reimburse up to $100 of actual expenses related to registration, lodging, parking and/or travel. Receipts are required. The UEA’s purpose in offering the scholarship is:
- To afford UEA members opportunities to further their professional skills and growth
- To strengthen educators’ and community members’ understanding of diversity
- To provide the skills needed for working with children and young adults in settings where diversity is the norm
The Utah Chapter of the National Association for Multicultural Education (Utah NAME) was founded in 2004 by a group of educators and community members who wanted to further the cause of education equity and social justice in Utah and nationwide. |
Requirements & Procedures
- Applicants must be UEA members. Scholarships will be awarded based on member status, geographic location in the state, and date of receipt of application.
- Applicants must arrange their own travel, conference registration, hotel reservations, etc.
- Application procedure: complete the online registration form or download the PDF form and return it to the UEA. Applications must be received by the close of business or postmarked by Friday, February 26, 2010.
- Receipts for actual expenses are required and due to the UEA no later than close of business on Friday, April 16, 2010. Eligible expenses include registration fees, overnight lodging, parking, and/or travel expenses.
- Scholarship recipients must submit a 2-page essay reflecting on the learnings from the NAME conference suitable for publication on the UEA website. Essay is due to the UEA no later than close of business on Friday, April 16, 2010.
Notification to Scholarship Awardees
Awardees will be notified of their eligibility to receive a scholarship after the application deadline. Reimbursement will be made following UEA’s receipt and approval of the essay and expense receipts.

UEA members can receive a discounted rate on lodging at the following UEA/Access hotels in Salt Lake City. Identify yourself as a UEA/Access member and ask for the discount when making your reservation.
